New York-born rocker Lenny Kravitz was honored this week for his musical success in France when he was named Officer of the Order of the Arts by French cultural minister Frederic Mitterand, becoming the latest in a series of international stars to receive the honor. Kravitz enjoyed his first big break in music in France when he performed at the Rennes' Trans Musicales festival in 1989. Since then, Kravitz has often enjoyed greater commercial success in France than here in the US, and has recorded many of his albums there.
