Van Halen to Sign with Interscope

Legendary hard rock band Van Halen will sign with Interscope Records providing an outlet to release its first studio album with original frontman David Lee Roth since 1984.  The band was rumored to have been in discussions with Columbia Records about a deal, but began discussing a deal with Interscope last week.  It was reported that Interscope head Jimmy Iovine was personally involved in the deal, which will include touring, merchandising, marketing and recording.

Roth left the band in 1985 after the band's iconic release, "1984."  The band released four albums with Sammy Hagar on vocals and one with Gary Cherone in 1998.  Roth rejoined Van Halen in 2006, and the band has toured extensively since.  It has been rumored over the last couple of weeks that Van Halen is planning some type of special announcement at the Grammy Nominations concert, which will be televised live on CBS November 30th.
