Legendary mainstream rockers Journey have been selected to receive the 2011 "Legend of Live" award at the upcoming Billboard Touring Awards, scheduled for November 10th at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York. According to Billboard, the award is meant to honor artists who have made significant contributions to live music and the touring business. Previous honorees include Elton John (2006), the Allman Brothers (2008), Ozzy Osbourne (2009) and Rush (2010).
Since releasing their debut, self-titled album in 1975, Journey has been a huge box-office draw. During the band's "Eclipse" tour this year, the band has sold more than a million concert tickets and is bringing in an average of $600,000 a night.
