Since legendary alternative rocker R.E.M. announced they are calling it quits, numerous artists have paid tribute to the pioneers at shows all around the world. One such tribute occurred Saturday at the Music Midtown Festival in Atlanta, Georgia, when Coldplay honored Michael Stipe & Co. with a cover version of the band's classic, "Everybody Hurts." Coldplay has recently finished work on a new album, "Mylo Xyloto," which is scheduled to arrive in stores October 24th. R.E.M., meanwhile, will release an expansive 35-track, 2-disc greatest hits compilation on November 15th. Titled "Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage, 1982-2011, the collection will include tracks from the band's early days at IRS Records as well as their lengthy stint at Warner Bros.
