Singer / songwriter Cheryl Crow has agreed to write the music and lyrics for an upcoming Broadway take on the classic 1982 Barry Levinson-directed film, "Diner." Barry Levinson, who wrote and directed the classic tale of a group of friends inflicting their shenanigans on locals in 1959 Baltimore, will write the show's book, and was the one that approached Crow about contributing the music.
"I was already a huge fan of 'Diner' when Barry first approached me about writing a score for a theatrical retelling of his film,"Crow said in an interview with the New York Times. "I knew exactly who these men and women were and I feverishly began writing." Multiple Tony Award winning choreographer Kathleen Marshall will direct and choreograph the musical.
