The 2011 Polaris Music Prize, awarded to the top Canadian album every year, went to Arcade Fire for it's "The Suburbs" set, it was announced Monday. The album has enjoyed tremendous commercial and critical success, earning the band Album of the Year honors at the Grammys and Junos. The album beat out coompetitors such as "House of Balloons," by the mysterious R&B artist the Weeknd; "Kaputt" by indie vets Destroyer; and "New History Warfare Vol. 2: Judges," by Bon Iver collaborator Colin Stetson, among others for the Polaris.
