Sean "P-Diddy" Combs has reportedly settled a lawsuit stemming from a shooting incident in 1999 at a Manhattan nightclub. An attorney for the plaintiffs in the case confirmed that the settlement had occurred, though she declined to offer any further details, citing a confidentiality clause in the agreement.
On December 27, 1999, rapper Jamal "Shyne" Barrow, Combs, and his then girlfriend Jennifer Lopez were arrested after a shooting at the now-closed Club New York in Times Square. Barrow, who began shooting during a fight, was later charged and convicted on assault charges for injuring two bystanders in the crowd. Barrow served nine years of a ten year sentence and was deported back to his native Belize upon his release from prison.
One of the victims, a man named Natania Reuben who was hit in the face by bullet fragments during the incident, filed a $130 million lawsuit in 2008. Michael Bergos, who owned the club and did not sign a confidentiality agreement, told the New York Post that Reuben was paid $1.3 million in the settlement and the other two victims received $50,000 and $500,000.
Representatives for Diddy have declined to comment on the matter.
