Troubled singer Amy Winehouse, who has been in and out of rehabs for drug addiction for years, has reportedly canceled a number of tour dates on her current European tour after melting down onstage at a show in Belgrade, Serbia over the weekend. Watch the embarrasing incident in the two clips below. The Belgrade concert was supposed to be the first of 12 stops across Europe, but sceduled shows in Istanbul on June 20th and Athens on the 22nd have been canceled. At this point, no other dates have been called, and the next sceduled gig is in Bilbao, Spain on July 8th.
Winehouse's representatives released the following statement: "Despite feeling sure that she wanted to fulfill these commitments, she has agreed with management that she cannot perform to the best of her ability and will return home." No further explanation was given, nor is any needed after seeing the video clips below.
Winehouse, who has infamously struggled with various addiction through her career, was reportedly nearly an hour late to the Belgrade show. After stumbling onto the stage and struggling to remember lyrics to her songs, she would occasionally walk offstage to leave her bandmates playing instrumentals. At one point, the singer even pulled a backup singer over to fill in for her. The crowd was horrified at the disappointing performance, and let Winehouse know. The tickets for the concert cost an average of 40 euros ($57), which is a steep price in a country where the average salary is just 300 euros ($428) per month.
