Courtney Love Sued Again for Tweets

Courtney Love, the lead singer of Hole who achieved fame through her marriage to grunge legend Kurt Cobain, has reportedly been sued for a second time for comments she made on Twitter. Just two months ago, Love settled out of court after being sued for libel by a fashion designer, and now the singer has been named in a libel claim filed by the law firm that once represented her.

Gordon & Holmes, a law firm based in San Diego, represented Love from December 2008 to May 2009 in an effort to reclaim money that Love alleged was stolen from the estate of her late husband, Nirvana frontman Cobain.  The latest suit, filed by the firm last week, claims that one of its lawyers asked Love to refrain from "any and all substance abuse" when dealing with the firm's representatives, to which Love responded by firing them.

According to the claim, Love asked the firm to resume the case months later, and when they declined, she began making libelous statements about them on Twitter insinuating the firm, and specifically one of its partners named Rhonda J Holmes, had taken bribes.

"I was fucking devastated (sic) when Rhonda J Holmes Esq of San Diego was bought off [...]," read one of the Tweets.  The suit also mentions an interview Love did in 2010 that repeated the allegations of bribery:  "I've been hiring and firing lawyers to help me with this." She goes on to tell of a female attorney who has since stopped taking her calls because "they got to her" after she mentioned something to Page 6 of the New York Post. "She's disappeared."

The lawsuit claims that Love's allegations have caused significant damage to Holmes' career, and asks for punitive damages as a deterrent to Love repeating such defamatory actions.
