According to the Arizona State Corrections Website, jailed rapper DMX is scehduled to be released on July 1st. Earl Simmons, the rapper's real name, was sent to prison last December for violating his probation. Simmons was on probation for drug charges last year and was scheduled to be released from the supervision when he received permission from authorities to leave the rehab center he was in at the time to do a show.
The rapper reportedly drank some alcohol during the concert, leading to the violation. His ex-wife, Tashera Simmons, said at the time that he had been set up. He only had three weeks left [of probation], and they set him up," Mrs. Simmons said. "Because he was in a rehab that they put him in because he was driving dirty, and they gave him permission to go do a show. How do you give someone that's supposed to be in a rehab permission to do a show? It was a set-up, and then X, I can't even believe that he even took a drink knowing the situation."
Sommons will be released early on July 1st, but will be under supervised watch until August 12th.
