K.K. Downing Out of Judas Priest after 35 Years

K.K. Downing, the long-time guitarist of the legendary metal band Judas Priest, has decided to leave the band after nearly 36 years with the band.  Downing will reportedly be replaced with 31 year-old Richi Faulkner on their upcoming tour, as well as a new album, which the band hope to have in stores sometime next year.  Meanwhile, check out the clip below of a classic Downing solo on "Victim of Changes" from the band's 2005 tour.  K.K.'s solo starts about the 2:45 mark.

KK Downing released the following statement:

"Dear friends,

It is with much regret that I will not be with you this summer.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your concerns about my health. Please rest assured that I am OK.

There has been an ongoing breakdown in working relationship between myself, elements of the band, and the band's management for some time. Therefore I have decided to step down rather than to tour with negative sentiments as I feel that this would be a deception to you, our cherished fans. However, I would urge you to please support the Priest as I have no doubt that it will be a show not to be missed.

All my love and respect."
