Trey Songz Sued For Copyright Infringement

R&B up-and-comer Trey Songz is being sued for the rights to the song "Bottoms Up" from his latest album, "Passion, Pain, & Pleasure."  The suit, filed by a Washington, DC production company, seeks $18 million in damages for copyright violations.  Named in the suit along with Songz are Atlantic Records, Songz' manager Gee Robinson, producer Kane Beatz and Kodak, who used the song in an advertsing campaign starring Songz.

The suit was launched by Derrick Price, Doc Mob and IHip Hop Musicand claims that producer Milton James, a.k.a. Tony Scales, produced the original track for Doc Mob Records in his own home studio before teaming up with Kane Beatz to put the finishing touches, which Beatz did, before claiming the song as his and giving it to Songz.  Price, meanwhile, claims he sent numerous cease-and-desist letters to Atlantic only to have them ignored.
