Dire Straits' "Money For Nothing" Banned in Canada

Dire Straits' classic, "Money For Nothing," has been banned by the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council for repeated use of the anti-gay slur, "That little faggot" in the song's second verse (use of the phrase starts at 1:52 in the video below).  Several radio stations in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Edmonton have been protesting the decision by playing an un-edited version of the tune repeatedly for an hour at a time.  Versions with the offending word edited out are allowed to be aired.  While "Money For Nothing" has been an accepted staple of rock radio for years, the effort to ban the song came about because of a complaint filed by a listener in St. John's, Newfoundland.
