George Clinton has reportedly filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against members of the Black Eyed Peas, Cherry Hill Music and UMG Recordings, alleging that the band ripped off his song, "(Not Just) Knee Deep" on remixes of their 2003 song, "Shut Up." The song has previously been sampled by LL Cool J, Snoop Dogg, Tupac Shakur, MC Hammer, and De La Soul. Clinton is seeking maximum statutory damages of $150,000 per infringement and an injunction prohibiting further distribution of the infringing song.
