The Dallas Cowboys broke the hearts of their loyal fans Sunday night with a horrible performance in their seasoning-opening game against the Redskins in Washington, DC. In a game in which their defense performed well enough to win, the offensive line made several key mistakes which cost the Boys a game they should've won. On the last play of the game, in particular, offensive lineman Alex Barron committed a holding penalty on a play when Tony Romo threw what would've been the game-winning TD pass to Roy Williams. The foul nullified the TD, and ended the game. The saddest part was to discover that Barron has been the most penalized player in the league over the last five seasons. The Cowboys just got rid of the number 2 guy on that list, Flozell Adams. So they get rid of the second most penalized guy in the league, who at least was a perrenial pro-bowler, and bring in a guy who gets penalized more, but isn't a very good player. Oh, well. Might as well knock my expectations down early, at least I have the excitement of a new NFL season to keep me from putting holes in my wall. So get ready Cowboys fans, we could be in for another painful year of unfulfilled promise and expectations.
