Radiohead drummer Phil Selway is taking advantage of the band's current hiatus to work on his first ever solo album. The album, titled "Familial", is scheduled to arrive in stores August 30th. The Ian Davenport-produced ten song record will feature contributions from Glenn Kotche and Par Sanone of Wilco, singer Lisa Germano, and Sebastian Coughling of Soul Coughing. Selway hopes to follow in the footsteps of Genesis' Phil Collins the Eagles Don Henley who went from playing drums for a big-time act to launch successful solo careers.
