Gary, Indiana official announces plan for $300 million Michael Jackson museum

A $300 million plan for a museum dedicated to the late pop icon Michael Jackson was announced yesterday. Work could begin as early as next year on the museum, which will be built in the singer's home city of Gary, Indiana. Jackson visited Gary in 2003 to discuss a possible museum, though no progress was made before his death. Gray Mayor Rudy Clay saif the museum could create several thousand jobs, and will be expected to draw 750,000 tourists to the city annually. Clay also estimated the museum could bring $100 to $150 million into the local economy each year.
