Pop superstar Ke$ha is helping her native Nashville, Tennessee after the city was ravaged by flooding last week. In addition to donating thousands of pounds of cat and dog food to local shelters, the singer has scheduled a benefit concert to take place June 16th at Limelight.
"It's my home. I don't know anything else. It's the place I come to help me feel all right and grounded," she said. "This city has helped nurture me as a musician ... I owe a lot to this place, which is why I'm taking it so close to heart and trying to help people realize the magnitude of the situation."
Nashville was plagued by flooding on May 1st and 2nd. There were at least nine people dead and more than 2,000 home destroyed. Damage has been estimated at $1.5 billion-plus.
