Sly Stone, the frontman for Sly and the family Stone, has filed a lawsuit against the band's former manager, claiming the man had been stealing royalties and de-frauding the band for 20-plus years. The suit also alleges the manager, Jerry Goldstein, had claimed ownership of the band's name with the US government and borrowed millions of dollars based on it. The lawsuit, filed in a Los Angeles Superior court, asks for $50 million in damages, and also a full accounting of royalties to determine just how much Goldstein stole over the years.
