Legendary drummer Vinnie Appice (Black Sabbath, Dio, Heaven & Hell) underwent surgery on his shoulder November 30th for an injury he sustained during the last Heaven & Hell tour. Doctors expect Appice to be able to play drums again in about four months.

Commented Vinny: "I would like to thank all the fans, friends, family for the kind wishes for my shoulder surgery recovery. It's been five weeks and I am feeling stronger each day. I should be hitting those drums soon!!"

The last tour took its toll on the members of the band, essentially Black Sabbath, though Ozzy Osbourne owns the right to the name, hence Heaven & Hell. Vocalist Ronnie James Dio was diagnosed with stomach cancer in November, while guitarist Tony Iommi recently underwent stem cell treatments on his hand.

Added Vinny: "I want to wish my best friend in the world Ronnie a speedy and healthy recovery and hear his voice screaming through my monitors again soon!"
