Rapper Travis McCoy is very busy these days with an array of projects. He just completed work on a documentary, "Travis McCoy's Unbeaten Track", in which he premiered a new single whose proceeds are earmarked for charity. He's also working on his first solo record, as well as a fourth album with Gym Class Heroes. The charity single is titled "One at a Time" and reflects on McCoys travels with MTV's Staying Alive Foundation, an organization that promotes HIV / AIDS prevention.
"There was a lot of pressure," he said. "One, to make a song that people will want to download. Two, since it is a charity track, I wanted to keep the cheese factor to a bare minimum and make sure it's sincere and from the heart. Three, it needed to capture all the emotions I felt during the trip, and four, I needed to speak for all the inspirational people I met only my journey. So it was a lot of pressure."
The rapper's upcoming solo effort, "The Lazarus Project", features collaborations with Cee-Lo and Chester French. It is scheduled to hit stores sometime next Spring.
In addition to the solo album and the new Gym Class Heroes record, McCoy is also working on a mixtape with Clinton Sparks titles "The Death Comedy Jam, Vol. 1".
