Steven Tyler joined his bandmate Joe Perry onstage Tuesday night during the encore at his Joe Perry Project performance in New York for a rendition of the legendary Rock band's hit "Walk This Way". Tyler promised fans before the song that "I want you to know that I'm not leaving Aerosmith." Perry has since since said in a statement that Tyler indeed has not expressed a desire to leave the band, but that his desire to take two years off to explore side projects conflicts with the plans of the rest of the band. Perry tweeted earlier this week that the band is actively pursuing another singer to work with in Tyler's absence. He went on to say: "the band's been playing together for 40 years. It's a really powerful rock band, and I don't want to see it just go to waste and I don't think any of the other guys do, either. We're gonna work and we're gonna do something -- I'm not exactly sure what yet, but the band's too good to let it sit around. We're not going to wait for Steven."
The Joe Perry Project will be performing through the end of November and take December off before returning to the road in January.
