Paypal is planning on extending its reach into the online payment world. Yesterday, the Ebay owned company held it first ever developer conference in San Francisco. The motivation for the conference is to open the Paypal platform to software developers who wish to incorporate payments into their website or cellphone app.
The new technology would allow the developer to embed the Paypal technology into an application. It will have the potential to pay for your pizza order with a click of your cellphone. On the other side of the coin, it can eliminate sending checks by allowing an accounting dept to pay its vendors.
The vice president of Paypal was quoted as saying that cash payments would soon be the ideal payment method for tooth fairies, drug dealers and senators paying their household staff.
Paypal's payment methods have been somewhat outdated for some time now. Where a user was once prompted to enter their log-in info in a new window, resulting in many missed opportunities for gamers; nowadays a Paypal box will open within the game or site eliminating any interruption.
