Mariah Carey's new album, "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" was originally scheduled for an August 25th release, then delayed until September 15th, and now has been pushed back again to September 29th.

The pop sensation has also pulled out of several appearances, including the "Today" show, "VH1 Storytellers", the MTV Video Music Awards, and even her own Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony.

According to a spokesman at her Def Jam, the reason for the delay and appearance cancellations is that Carey has not finished the album and has been working hard to record the last few songs.

Carey's website yesterday posted the following update: "Mariah is putting the finishing touches on her newest album, "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel," and we have shifted all of our TV and promo appearances to coincide with the new release date of September 29th. We can't wait for the fans to hear the new album!!"

 

As previously reported, "Memoirs" has already stirred up controversey with the label's decision to include advertising in the CD packaging, in the form of a mini-Elle magazine featuring Carey-related content.
