Avril Lavigne says her new album will be a more serious, stripped down sound than her previous work. "A lot of the songs are mainly the acoustic and my vocal," says Lavigne. "It's a lot different from anything I've done before. It's not a pop rock record. This is more about emotion and feeling." The album, not-yet-titled, is expected to be released in November on RCA.
Sum 41 singer (and Lavigne's husband) produced 8 tracks on the album out of 12, half of which Lavigne wrote herself. For the other 6 songs, she collaborated with Evan Taubenfield and Butch Walker.
The singer will also launch a new fragrance, "Black Star" this fall. A television commercial for the fragrance is currently airing featuring a song from the new album and it's rumored that it may be the first single. (see the commercial below.)
