Jane's Addiction has announced the cancellation of their 6 upcoming Australian tour dates because drummer Stephen Perkins will be undergoing surgery for an infected elbow. Perkins began experiencing swelling during the band's European trek. He is currently in LA's Cedars - Sinai Hospital where doctors are observing the elbow and administering antibiotics. Perkins is expected to make a full recovery.
The band's trek Down Under was supposed to begin tomorrow in Byron Bay and end Aug 1st in Perth. "I know how excited we were to come play in Australia, and how long the fans there have waited for this. I want everyone Down Under to know that we will come back as soon as we can," said the band's frontman Perry Farrell in a statement.
The band 's only other scheduled date on their reunion tour is a headlining spot at Lollapalooza in August 7 in Chicago, IL. Perkins is expected to be ready for that gig.
Any possible makeup dates for the Australian shows have not been released.
