Phish announces three-day Halloween Festival

Phish announced yesterday that they will be renewing 2 longtime Phish traditions this October in one festival. Festival 8, set to be held at the Empire Polo Fields in Indio, California between October 30 and November 1. It will revive the Phish tradition of weekend campouts as well as their once regular habit of playing on Halloween.

The band will perform eight sets, including the traditional Halloween cover album. Previously, they have performed nine times on Halloween night: in '86, '87, '89, '90, '91, '94, '95, '96 and '98. The band usually dresses in costume and plays an album from start to finish, sometimes covering an album from another artist. The tradition was started in '94 at the Glen Falls Civic Center in Glen Falls, New York, where Phish covered the Beatles "White Album." In subsequent years, they tackled the Who's "Quadrophenia," the Talking Heads' "Remain in Light," and the Velvet Underground's "Loaded." The band also covered Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" in it's entirely, days after the '98 V.U. Halloween show.

Tickets for "Festival 8" will go on sale Monday, July 27 from the band's website. Three day passes are $199 plus a $1 donation to WaterWheel, the band's charitable foundation, and additional service fees. All vehicles entering the car camping area must also purchase a $15 vehicle pass. Click Here to but tickets.
