The Yeah Yeah Yeahs have been announced as the replacement band for the Beastie Boys at Lollapalooza, scheduled for Aug 6 - 8 at Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois. The Beastie Boys were forced to withdraw from the festival because Adam "MCA" Yauch was diagnosed with cancer in his Parotid gland and will be undergoing surgery. The band is also pushing back the release date of their upcoming album.

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs will take over The Beasties' headlining slot on Aug 8th while Tool headlines the other main stage. Other bands playing the main stages during the event are Depeche Mode, Janes Addiction, the Killers and Kings of Leon.
