Singer of the legendary British new wave band Depeche Mode Dave Gahan had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor. The surgery was successful. Gahan was rushed to the hospital before the band's scheduled concert in Athens, Greece on May 12, compaining of symptoms consistent with gastoenteritis. Tests later revealed a low-grade malignant tumor, prompting the surgery. Doctors have cleared Gahan to return to performing on June 8th. Their shows May 30th at London's O2 arena, May 31 at the Pinkpop festival in Holland, June 2 in Hamburg, Germany, and June 4 and 5 in Dusseldorf, Germany have all been postponed. They will resume the tour June 8 in Leipzig, Germany, though the show scheduled there the previous night has been cancelled. The band will perform July 24 in Toronto and will be headlining one night of this year's Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago.
