Co-frontman for Linkin Park, Mike Shinoda says the band's new album will be so unique, they will have to come up with a new genre for it. The band is currently underway in the writing process and hopes to have the album in stores early next year. He talked about the band's aspirations for the album recently with Rollin Stone Magazine. People just want junk food, he explains. They want throw-away junk food music thats going to make them lethargic and fat. McDonalds is great once in a while, in moderation. Eat it every day and you just turn into a slob. We feel the same way about music. We want to hopefully move even more into being able to make more substantial music, and weve always been capable of it, but sometimes, there were different things that we got excited about on each record, about what we wanted to write and what we wanted to make and what kind of statement we wanted to make. On this record, were definitely paying attention to the substance and the nuance, and we hope to make something thats really cutting edge and really different. The other co-frontman for the band Chester Bennington, meanwhile is set to release his first solo album under the moniker Dead By Sunrise. Linkin Park also has a song on the soundtrack for the new movie "Transformers: Rise of the Fallen" and collaborated with composer Hans Zimmer on the score for the film.
