Former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick will be released from a federal prison in Leavonworth, Kansas sometime today. Prison officials did not release the exact time, citing concern for Vick's safety. Vick will not exactly be free, however. He will be confined to his home in Hampton, VA and has to wear an electronic monitoring device until July 20, when his 23 month prison sentence for dogfighting conspiracy expires. Afterwards, he will serve a three year supervised period of probation. While under house arrest, Vick will be allowed to go to work at a construction company, church, medical appointments, and meetings with his probation officer. He will not be allowed to go out to eat, to the movies, or any other recreational activities outside his home. As part of his sentence, Vick may never again own a dog. Vick reportedly will begin football-related workouts shortly after his release. He is still a member of the Atlanta Falcons, and is currently suspended indefinitely, meaning he will have to apply for reinststement to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
