The Joe Satriani formed supergroup Chickenfoot had their debut gig at the El Corazon in Seattle. About nine songs in, the fire department showed up at the crowded club and halted the performance. The band's singer, Sammy Hagar (Van Halen, Montrose) told the audience, The fire departments going to shut us down in 10 minutes This is the end of the regular set. He also promised a 45-minute encore to make up for the delay. There was about a 20 minute delay as the club's security staff thinned the crowd before the band made good on Hagar's claim. They went on to play 4 more Chickenfoot songs, followed by the Montrose classic, Bad Motor Scooter" and the Deep Purple great, "Highway Star". The sound was huge for the 807 capacity club and the band was tight and sounded very well rehearsed, something Hagar is apparently not excited about. It feels like weve been together a long time, he said. We dont like to rehearse & s**t; well, Joe does But therell come a time when Chickenfoot doesnt have to rehearse. Well just come on and play. The band's debut self-titled album will hit stores in June.
Chickenfoot is Joe Satriani on lead guitar, Sammy Hagar on vocals, Michael Anthony (Van Halen) on bass, and Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) on drums.
