A Perfume Company, Revelations, has filed suit against Prince claiming that the singer did not follow through with his obligation of promoting their fragrance 3121, named after his '06 cd. The company is seeking $100,000 in damages.
The lawsuit claims that Prince and his publisher, Universal Music, came to a licensing agreement allowing the company to use his likeness, name and album title to promote two fragances. The deal would give Universal a 50% stake in net profits from sales for making arrangements with Prince to market the products.
The company claims that since '07, they have had no cooperation from Universal to coordinate any promotional efforts.
Universal released a statement saying that the claims were "without merit".
