Paul McCartney would like to release a very rare Beatles recording said to be "the most experimental track" the band ever recorded. However, he will need permission from the Harrison and Lennon estate, as well as from drummer Ringo Starr.
The recording, called "Carnival of Light", is said to be fourteen minutes in length and dates back to the beginning of 1967. McCartney had wanted the piece included on the Beatles "Anthology", which was released in the latter part of the nineties, but George Harrison did not agree and therefore did not give his permission, preventing the song from making its debut.
McCartney stated, "I said all I want you to do is just wander around all the stuff, bang it, shout, play it, it doesn't need to make any sense......Hit a drum then wander on to the piano, hit a few notes, just wander around. So that's what we did and then put a bit of an echo on it. It's very free."
The song has been heard by a few writers with one claiming that the song reminded him of the Zappa song, "The Return of the Son of Monster Magnet."
