Helix has finished with the recording of their soon to be released Christmas album. Below is a message form Helix vocalist Brian Vollmer
"Since we’ve been back from the east coast we’ve been working ‘round the clock to get “A Heavy Mental Christmas” recorded, mixed, and mastered. We received the first master back from Sterling Sound in N.Y.C. on Thursday night, but unfortunately Aaron detected some distortion of one of the songs and we had to send it back. As it stands now, we should have finished product in our hands in two weeks. Getting finished this week was a must as there is almost a month turn-around time from mastering to getting it into all the stores across Canada (especially Walmart). We’re also blitzing radio by listing all the songs on DMDS and signing up for the DMDS email. DMDS is the service the record companies use to post their new releases so that the radio stations can download the songs. They also send out emails to over 200 stations alerting them to the song’s (CD’s) imminent release and “track” the song, which means they send you a report each week of which stations are playing your song and what rotation.
They also service the print media. Once the DMDS code is released to radio I will be following up with personal phone calls to the stations to see what they think of the CD, conducting interviews with the print media, and exploring every possibility in regards to getting the word out about the CD. Our booking agent, Feldman & Ass., is putting together dates to support the release of “A Heavy Mental Christmas” as we speak. Already we’re booked into Kitchener (Molly Blooms) and Whitby (Johnny B’s) for October, and in November we’ll be heading west with dates already booked in Alberta and B.C."
