Touring has changed so much over the past couple of decades. Today bands go out for a couple of dates and then return home, whereas back in the 70s/80s wed be gone for months on end. These kind of tours are called fly-ins. Such was the case for our recent tour of Saskatchewan and Alberta, although Randy (my merchandiser & buddy) and I drove. The rest of the guys flew to Regina and hooked up with us in Yorkton. Together we traveled the rest of the way in two vehicles-a rental van and my Volkswagon Jetta.

It took Randy and I three days to drive from London, Ontario to Yorkton. We stopped along the way in Thunder Bay, where I took time out to visit with my relatives, (The Costas) the grand master of my Masonic lodge and the head of the Thunder Bay Musicians Union, Chuck Sanford, and long-time Helix fan Keith Aalto, who brought along Ryan Thrush from the university radio station. On the Monday morning I went on-air with Dave & Dave from the Giant, and then Randy and I headed off into a wicked snowstorm which lasted for about 3 hours outside of Thunder Bay.
