ORIGINAL JEFFERSON AIRPLANE SINGER ASKING FOR DONATIONS IN CANCER BATTLE

Original Jefferson Airplane singer Signe Anderson is battling some devastation health issues, and she's asking for your help. The singer, who left the band in 1966 to have a baby, beat uterine, cervical, and bladder cancer in the mid-70s and other problems since then, but a recent diagnosis of breast cancer led to a radical mastectomy, which she called "overwhelming." Now she's facing another operation that's left her "with a large question mark" as to her survival chances. Anderson, who worked with the reunited Airplane in the '90s, said, "I'm a fighter and I've just begun to fight," but she added, "Any help I could get would be greatly appreciated. Medical bills took away any chance of a 'cushy retirement.'But I'm not out yet."

Anderson's message was posted on the official jeffersonstarshipsf.com website, and the band is helping raise money for her by asking for donations and by selling a performance she did with the group in Tarrytown, New York, in 1993, with the proceeds going directly to her. To buy the music or just to contribute, go to planetearthrockandroll.com, click on store, then click on "Signe Rocks."
