The Houston rap trio the Geto Boys announced on Monday they are caving in to their fans' desires to record a new album, titled Habeas Corpus, and have started a Kickstarter campaign to finance the album, their first since the 2005 set, The Foundation. "I'd like to take credit, but the fans really made it happen," noted Willie D in an interview with Rolling Stone. "It's hard to get all of us on the same page, 'cause everybody's always doing their own thing. We are three totally different people. We didn't grow up together. We're not blood-related. We didn't go to the same schools, didn't grow up in the same neighborhood. The one commonality that we do share is being in the group."

Willie D noted that he has been taking part in "virtual rehearsal," where he, Scarface and Bushwick Bill work on rhymes over the phone together, but also noted that the acrimony between the rappers is still volatile. "We fuckin' hate each other, man," Willie explained. "It's like, 'Motherfucker, I don't even wanna be onstage with you. Can we put up three stages, man? I'll sing my verse, you sing your verse.'" Despite the tension, the trio is currently on the road for their Office Space tour, named after the 1999 Mike Judge film in which their song "Damn It Feels Good to Be a Gangsta" appears on the soundtrack. The trek kicked off June 7th in Washington, DC and runs through a July 4th appearance in Cincinnati. Click Here for a full rundown of dates and venues.

As their Office Space tour proceeds, the Geto Boys will be keeping an eye on Kickstarter, the crowd-funding platform where they're trying to raise $100,000 to fund the new album. Rewards for donating include a digital album download with exclusive bonus track, t-shirts, autographed copies of the CD and a meet and greet. Larger contributions will earn a golf outing with Scarface, a night out with Bushwick Bill, a product endorsement from Willie D or backstage passes, and those pitching in $10,000 will receive a custom casket, designed and autographed by the group.  Click Here to contribute or see how the campaign is going.
