Rush Match Highest Billboard Position Ever as "Clockwork Angels" Reaches No. 2

Canadian Prog-rock legends Rush matched their best chart performance ever this week as "Clockwork Angels" sold 104,000 copies to land at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.  The album, the band's first in five years, also debuted at No. 1 in the band's native Canada and No. 2 in Japan.  The album has also received critical acclaim around the world, and would have reached No. 1 in the UK had Nielsen SoundScan counted the 40,000 limited edition fan-packs the band sold of the album.

Since debuting in 1974 with their self-titled first album, Rush have sold more than 40 million records worldwide and have developed an avid following around the globe, as well.  The band is commonly cited as the most influential prog-rock outfits in history, and is behind only the Beatles and Rolling Stones in terms of consecutive gold or platinum albums.  The clip below is of a performance by Rush of "Caravan," the first single from "Clockwork Angels."
