Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon announced over the weekend they are separating after 27 years of marriage.  Their musical partnership, ongoing for 30 years, will continue at least through their remaing scheduled South American tour stops in South America, but the future od Sonic Youth beyond that is very much in question.  The couple issued the following statement through a representative:

"Musicians Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore, married in 1984, are announcing they have separated. Sonic Youth, with both Kim and Thurston involved, will proceed with its South American tour dates in November. Plans beyond that tour are uncertain. The couple has requested respect for their personal privacy and does not wish to issue further comment."
