Slipknot Names Replacement for Paul Gray

Slipknot annnounced on their website Monday that they have filled the shoes left behind when their bassist, Paul Gray, passed away last May.  Donnie Steele, who was one of the band's original guitar players, will fill in on bass for the band's upcoming 2011 tour dates, according to the announcement.

"Donnie was in the band at the very beginning, and rather than get an outsider, we thought it would be a fitting tribute to Paul to play with someone from within the family," read a statement from the band.  "Donnie was great friends with Paul and we can't think of a better way to celebrate his memory than with someone who was there with us at the very beginning. The eight of us are looking forward to being onstage again and honoring Paul's legacy with our families in Europe and Brazil this summer."

Gray was found dead, the apparent victim of an overdose of morphine and fentanyl, in an Iowa hotel room on May 24th, 2010.  The band is set to kick off a string of ten summer shows June 17th in Athens, Greece, before heading to Switzerland to headline the Sonisphere Festival in Greece the following weekend.  Click Here for a list of the dates.
