Braves Get Back in Series With Their 47th Comeback Win of the Season

The Atlanta Braves snagged momentum in the bottom of the 10th inning in their NL Divisional Series against the San Francisco Giants Friday night when 3rd basesman Troy Glaus began a double play to end the inning with the bases loaded. Braves centerfielder Rick Ankiel would go on to launch a solo homerun into McCovey Cove in the top of the 11th, representing the winning run. The double play followed 18 innings where, despite the Giants having only scored one more run, it felt like the Braves were just over-matched.

It was just the second postseason homerun to splash into the ocean in the 11-year history of San Francisco's AT&T Park. The first was hit in 1999 by slugger Barry Bonds. The win was the Braves' 47th comeback win of the season, a category in which they led the majors. The series now shifts to Atlanta, where the Braves recorded the best home record among MLB teams in the 2010 season.

On a side note, Braves manager Bobby Cox, who has announced that 2010 will be his last season, was ejected in the second inning of the game for arguing a call. It was the 158th time, and possibly the last, in Cox's career he has been thrown from a game, by far a Major League record. But, considering he has been ejected twice in the first two games of this series, it's probably more likely that he adds to his record before the Braves' playoff run comes to an end.
