Kenny McKinley's teammates saw no signs of depression

The tragic suicide of Denver receiver Kenny McKinley came as a complete shock to his current teammates with the Broncos and friends from South Carolina, who he had visited earlier this month. The 23 year old had suffered a knee injury which required surgery a little over a month ago and had been placed on the Broncos' Injured Reserve list. The receivers teammates and coaches who were interviewed Tuesday said they had seen no signs of depression recently.

"I actually saw Kenny a week and a half ago. He was over here picking up some stuff out of his locker,'' Broncos linebacker Wesley Woodyard said. "He was always a guy that used to love to joke with me and I would joke back and forth with him. But he had a big smile on his face. He just walked out of the building.

McKinley's body was discovered by two female friends who were taking care of his son Monday morning. A pistol was found next to the body and the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head.
