Metallica Play Benefit Concert in Marin

On 9/11, Metallica took part in a benefit concert in Marin County. The concert benefited the Marin History Museum's "Marin Rocks" project, located in San Rafael, California. This was the first time that Metallica has played a show in Marin. Tickets cost between 100 to 300 dollars and the 2000 seat auditorium was, of course, sold out.

Vocalist James Hetfield thanked the crowd at the end of the night saying, "We appreciate you coming out to support the ancestry and the history of music in Marin County." Pre-concert the band talked about their connection with Marin, "We have made Marin County in Northern California our home for many years, so we were more than honored when the Marin History Museum asked us to participate in their benefit concert as they prepare to launch the exhibit "Marin Rocks". That's right, finally, a show in our own backyards . . . something that has NEVER happened!"

Proceeds from the concert will benefit the museum's latest exhibition celebrating Marin's music community, featuring diplays and educational programs. For more info go to www.marinhistory.org.
