Metallica to perform at benefit concert for California museum

According to a report in the Contra Costa Times, Metallica will perform a concert in San Rafael, CA in September to benefit the Marin History Museum. The band's singer James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich both live in the area and have children attending school there.

"METALLICA very much supports the 'Marin Rocks' project, and especially the educational programs to be offered for our youth," said Merry Alberigi, the Marin History Museum's executive director. "They have kids in school here in Marin County and they want to give back."

Alberigi hopes to announce the details of the concert, including who will be playing in addition to METALLICA, in the next two weeks.
